Raphaëlle Perreault, a student in the Master’s program in Social Innovation Management at HEC Montréal, has won the Institut international des coopératives Alphonse-et-Dorimène-Desjardins’ Award of Encouragement for her dissertation entitled “Entre statu-quo et innovation : comment se parle-t-on des centres d’hébergement pour aînés?”(Between status quo and innovation: how do we talk to each other about retirement homes?).
The project looks at the place of Quebec’s long-term care facilities (CHSLDs) in society and the community, and examines the consequences of the social isolation of these institutions, and consequently of their residents. The aim is to encourage discussion on how to view these institutions from a social perspective, while making the link with a solidarity cooperative, Les Passages. This cooperative, which specializes in project management, works with CHSLDs to promote the social inclusion of seniors in the community. Specifically, the project aims to “provide this social enterprise with the managerial means to optimize its service in promoting CHSLDs. It will help plan a communications strategy dedicated to stakeholders – future volunteers, employees, family caregivers and residents – in response to the shortage of manpower and the aging of the population from a positivist and humanist perspective.”
Congratulations, Raphaëlle, and all the best!
