Launch of a book on the governance structures of cooperatives

The Institute congratulates Alessandro Gustavo Souza Arruda, Adjunct Professor at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) in Brazil, for the publication of his book entitled “Estruturas of governança em redes de crédito cooperativas: A Evolução institucional das cooperativas brasileiras e Canadenses”.

During his Ph.D. studies, Mr. Arruda spent six months at HEC Montréal (August 2012 – February 2013) in order to understand the cooperative system of the Desjardins Group. His book describes and analyzes the legal and institutional evolution of the Desjardins Group and the SICREDI system in Brazil, their governance structures, as well as their regulatory bodies and other structures set up to support governance.
