This autumn, the Institut is delighted to welcome Fernando Paúl Pulgarín Chiriboga, specialist and researcher in alternative economies, the social and solidarity economy, popular and solidarity finance, and cooperativism. Fernando is pursuing a doctorate in social and solidarity economics at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (Mexico). He holds a master’s degree in human talent management from the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (Ecuador), a master’s degree in business administration from the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (Ecuador), and a bachelor’s degree in finance from the Universidad Estatal de Cuenca (Ecuador). Fernando specialized in popular and solidarity economy at Universidad Tres de Febrero (Argentina) and in management of microfinance institutions at INCAE Business School. He is also a professor at the Instituto Superior Tecnológico en Economía Popular Solidaria (ISTEPS – Ecuador), and has held various positions with the Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Jardín Azuayo (Ecuador).

His doctoral research focuses on the impact of solidarity finance in Ecuadorian communities, from a Buen Vivir perspective.
