On October 19 at 4 p.m., on the occasion of Cooperation Week, the Alphonse and Dorimène Desjardins International Institute for Cooperatives is organizing, in collaboration with the Desjardins Group, the event “COOP: un modèle d’avenir!” which seeks to highlight the history of the Group, as demonstrated by the collection on CoopGateway, as well as its modernity. With the participation of the President and CEO of the Desjardins Group, Mr. Guy Cormier, the event will highlight the relevance of this organization, 120 years after its founding, as a driver of innovation in cooperative entrepreneurship. Focused on the future, the more than 100-year-old organization is involved in its communities and promotes values that resonate more than ever with the new generation: inclusion, equity, respect for the environment and a better redistribution of wealth.

A discussion panel around the question “Why is the cooperative model relevant for an entrepreneur?” and moderated by Mrs. Marie-Josée Paquette, Director General of the CQCM, is inviting the coops Retournzy, Radish and Code 3 to share their perspective and to present the advantages of this business model which is more than ever a relevant business model for the future.

The event also provides an opportunity for the Institute to present the 2021 Award of Excellence for Research on Cooperatives and Mutuals as well as to present the new Award for the Encouragement of Research on Cooperatives and Mutuals. The Institute’s mission is to support research and the development of knowledge on cooperatives, with the overall objective of promoting understanding of the cooperative model in the HEC Montréal community and among young entrepreneurs and researchers in the cooperative field.
