The Award of Excellence aims to reward the best integration project, supervised project or thesis of the Master’s degree on cooperatives and mutuals. The goals of this Award is to develop the interest and knowledge of cooperatives within HEC Montréal, as well as allow students to publicize their work.

Eligibility requirements

  • Have been a graduating student of one the masters’ programs at HEC Montréal;
  • Have written an integration project, supervised project or thesis which subject of study are cooperatives or mutuals;
  • Have submitted the integration project, supervised project or thesis and obtained the final score from the members of the jury for the evaluation of HEC Montréal in the past year.

Submitting your application

Applicants must email the following documents to institutcoop@hec.ca in .pdf format:

  • The integration projet, supervised project or thesis submitted within a master’s degree at HEC Montréal;
  • A summary of the integration project, supervised project or thesis of three pages max. that presents the main results and explaining the significance of the main results, particularly compared to the literature; 
  • An up-to-date CV.

The application can be presented in French or in English. Students from all legal statuses are accepted.

Evaluation

The works submitted within the framework of this competition will be evaluated by a panel of professors/researchers from HEC Montréal. Following the evaluation of the proposals received, the best candidates will be invited to present their work in 30 minutes during a seminar.

The following criteria will be used by the jury to grant the Award of Excellence:

  • Relevance of the topic for cooperatives or mutuals;
  • Use of data specific to cooperatives or mutuals;
  • Importance of the results for the cooperative and mutual sector both from a specific perspective highlighting distinctive elements and in comparison with other forms of enterprises;
  • Quality of writing;
  • Potential of the work for academic and\or scientific publication.

The jury’s decision will be communicated to candidates by email. The winner of the Award of Excellence will receive $500.

Calendar 

The submission deadline for the Award of Excellence is August 30, 2024. Candidates must have previously deposited their supervised project or master’s thesis at HEC Montréal.
