Since its inception, the Alphonse and Dorimère Desjardins International Institute for Cooperatives has been actively involved in the field of innovation, as its International Board of Governors understands its potential as a key topic for exchange and transfer. Participants in the first study conducted by the Institute on this topic: “Innovation: Priorities and Practices of Cooperatives” also manifested an interest in continuing the discussion on innovation.

As such, the Alphonse and Dorimène Desjardins International Institute for Cooperatives set up the Cooperatives Innovation Circle (CIC). CIC aims to bring together leaders of cooperatives and mutuals with responsibility or involvement in the area of innovation, in order to share views and experience, methodologies, tools, cultures and initiatives on innovation issues. Drawing on HEC Montréal’s leadership in the area of innovation, the CIC’s objectives are to share understanding of new challenges and to foster thinking on new approaches to solving those challenges.

The Institute also continues to work and share information on innovation through various publications and cutting-edge research.
